Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Pacifica Residents Directory. By accessing the reference, you agree to them. If you do not accept the terms, please do not use the pages or linked tools.

1. What This Reference Is

Pacifica Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with Pacifica, San Mateo County, and California. It is not a government office, court, library, or records custodian, and it does not host the official records themselves.

2. Rules for Using the Reference

Use the pages and linked resources only for lawful purposes. You may not use them or information obtained through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the reference at scale
  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

This reference is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search provider, is a consumer report. None of it may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Websites

County and state portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search services set their own terms, privacy rules, fees, and availability. Pacifica Residents Directory does not control those services and is not responsible for their content or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranty that a page, fact, link, portal, search result, coverage date, or fee is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose.

6. Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of these pages or any linked resource, including an action taken from a record found through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims, demands, losses, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising from your misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the operators or their licensors and are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution is permitted. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version here. Continued use after the revision is posted means that you accept the updated text.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be blocked or limited for a person who violates these terms, abuses a search or linked service, or threatens the operation or security of the reference. This may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act is Government Code division 10, sections 7920.000-7931.000. California consumer-privacy rules include the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act at Civil Code section 1798.100 and following. Those statutes govern the relevant custodians or qualifying businesses; they do not turn this private reference into a records office.

12. Severability

If a court finds one portion of these terms unenforceable, that portion will be limited or removed to the necessary extent, and the remaining provisions will continue.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
